Earth has received a mysterious signal from deep space, America space agency NASA has revealed.The signal which organisation approximately 140 million miles away, came from NASA new Spacecraft"psyche"
In October 2023,NASA launched a spade mission, sending a Spacecraft towards an asteroid,named "psyche 16' believed to be primarily composed of metal ,a said to be located in the asteroid belt between the planets Mars and Jupiter.
Named Psyche, after the asteroid, it is designed for, this robotic explore had another mission -to test laser Communication.
Pysche is equipped with the Deep Space optical Communication (DSOC) system , Which aims to make laser Communication possible across vast distance in Space ,promising much faster connection than current method.
Despite psyche primary using radio frequency communication,the optical Communication technology has proven its capabilities.in a remarkable feat, the laser Communication demo successful transaction enginnering data from 140 million miles away, which is 1.5 times the distance between Earth and the sun,after interfacing with psyche radio frequency transmission
The DSOC also successful interface with psyche radio transmitter, allowed to transmit information and engineering data directly from the spacecraft back to earth.
Operation lead at NASA 's Jet propulsion laboratory (JPL) in Southern California, explained that the downlink about 10 minutes of duplicate spacecraft data during a pass on April 8.This duplicate data was transmit via laser
Psyche is reportedly stable and healthy as it makes its way towards the psyche 16 asteroid between Mars and Jupiter.
